Rules and Regulations

Well, we really only have one, key rule.  Members are required to be friendly, courteous and respectful of others online.  It’s the Golden Rule – “treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself.”  As you’ve likely gathered by now, to ensure that this rule is followed, all public messages are monitored by volunteers, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying or any form of unkind or inappropriate behaviour.  If we find a member communicating in an inappropriate way, we issue a warning.  After three times, access to Ability Online is revoked until the member can demonstrate to our System Manager that he/she is willing and able to behave appropriately.

This one, simple rule is vital to maintaining the warm and friendly culture we foster, and to ensuring that members feel safe and comfortable online.  The fact that our caring and careful volunteers strictly enforce it is what sets us apart from other online communities and chat rooms.

OK… there are other rules (click here to see the detailed legal agreement that you accept by becoming a member of Ability Online) but nothing is more important than the Golden Rule.

If you’re a believer in the Golden Rule, maybe you’d like to help others learn and become believers. We welcome those who are interested in making a contribution of their time to Ability Online.
